Invasive and Non Invasive Body Contouring in Body Contouring.

Since the 1980s, body-contouring technologies have continued to develop and be more attainable, allowing people to get the shape, size, and body type that they desire. Without the necessity for strict diet and exercise, it became possible to get the body you have always wanted, but found so difficult or impossible to attain. This was especially true for those who seemed to reach their peak with diet and exercise, but still can’t seem to chisel out their desired body image.

Most commonly associated with going under the knife, body-contouring devices and treatments have changed drastically, some costing more than others, some providing better results than others, and also some requiring a longer recovery time. It’s important to weigh your options between non-invasive treatments and traditionally more invasive surgical procedures, to find out what can help you make the changes you want for your body.

Non-invasive treatments

Radio frequency

This type of procedure is identified by the radiofrequency waves that are sent through your deep tissue in order to create heat energy in an effort to reduce the inflammation and stimulate the tissue. This type of treatment usually sees results within three to eight weeks, but it’s important to note that it does require multiple visits and treatments in order to see major results.

Cryolipolysis

Cryolipolysis, otherwise known as fat freezing, performed through basically the opposite of radiofrequency waves, because it is focusing on the cold instead of the heat. This therapy cools fat cells and after they are exposed to these low temperatures, they become stimulated, reduce inflammation and they eventually die off. This, however, is not visible within the outermost layer of skin.

High-intensity focused ultrasound

While this procedure can help treat a number of other disorders and conditions, cosmetically it is used to tighten and lift in the areas of treatment. These devices treat your deep tissue and the procedure itself is commonly referred to as ‘non-invasive liposuction.’ When your fat cells are exposed to this treatment, your body eliminates the once-damaged cells in just a couple of weeks.

Surgical treatments

Liposuction

The most commonly-known cosmetic produce for body contouring and sculpting, liposuction is also the most invasive. It is also said to be the most expensive, but that is because it is typically the most permanent and effective. Through this surgical procedure, fat cells are removed through a small tube and sucked out of your affected area. This is ideally performed while under anesthesia and by a board-certified cosmetic surgeon. However, as with any surgical treatment, there is a significant recovery time of up to six weeks.

Smartlipo

This is a more modern and less invasive form of liposuction, where lasers release a burst of energy to literally blast and melt away the fat. This procedure is done in-office, pain free, while the patient is awake. A small tube is used to suction out the fat as it is literally melted away with high-tech lasers.
