Facial fillers – also called dermal fillers – have taken the beauty industry by storm. These minimally invasive procedures can do everything from boosting eyebrows to plumping lips, providing you with a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing look.
Depending on what look you’re trying to achieve and where your filler will be applied, there are various kinds of injectable fillers available on the market. Different dermal fillers also have different frequencies of how often they need to be reapplied.
Facial Fillers and Frequency
Let’s discuss some of the most popular types of dermal fillers, their benefits, and how often they must be replenished in order to maintain the beautiful effects they help create:
Juvéderm
There are many different types of Juvéderm®, including classic Juvéderm, Juvéderm Voluma XC, and Juvéderm Volbella. These treatments can last from 6 months to up to two years.
Juvéderm is typically used to boost the volume in facial tissue, and to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles around the forehead, eyes, and mouth. Juvéderm has a unique formula that is very effective for areas with thin skin, because it can be used very close to the surface of the skin without causing unwanted effects.
The smile lines, or the “parentheses” around the nose and outside of the mouth, are one of the most popular reasons for using Juvéderm fillers. It has also been used for plumping lips and creating a contour around the cheekbones.
Restalyne / Restalyne Silk / Restalyne Lyft
Restalyne® another filler used for cosmetic fixes such as deep lines in the forehead or other folds and wrinkles that range from moderate to severe.
- Restylane is a natural dermal filler that aims to return plumpness and volume to your skin.
- Restylane Silk is a lip and fine line filler, as it’s made with smaller particles than other products to provide a natural look.
- Restylane Lyft is best for adding lift and volume to the cheeks, and to correct severe wrinkles.
If you opt for Restylane, you will need to revisit your practitioner at least every 6 months to maintain the effects.
Radiesse
Radiesse® is similar to Restylane in that it’s used to treat deep wrinkles and folds. It also promotes the new formation of collagen.
This treatment is also relatively long-lasting. If you’re looking to undergo a Radiesse treatment, the results will last for at least one year.
Botox
Botox® is a neurotoxin that paralyzes tiny muscles, thereby preventing wrinkles. It’s best for repairing crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines, as well as the contouring of the jawline and cheekbones.
The great thing about Botox is that it works wonders for men and women of all ages – from 20 to 80. Botox injections will typically be needed every 4 to 6 months.
